Ad Technical Support Engineer

Position Summary

The Advertiser Support Engineer will be responsible for providing advanced technical support to internal and external clients on all Millennial Media advertising products.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist clients and team members in finding creative technology solutions
• Provide critical technical expertise to operations teams, and identify, track and diagnose technology problems
• Provide leadership for other technical services team members by assisting with tough assignments, and becoming experts in one or more of Millennial’s platforms
• Demonstrate and develop advanced application knowledge for multiple Millennial Media products, and become an expert user in one or more applications
• Own complex, multi-system production issues by issuing initial response, data gathering, tracking and resolution where possible and determine escalation protocol based on the nature of the issue
• Handle system administrative duties for production and non-production systems, including: account setup, configure access of different elements in each system, computer set-up an application installation.
• Provide data and support to tier 2 and tier 3 team members to address defects. Assist other team members as an escalation point for one or more applications
• Must be on call 24/7 on a rotating basis

Required Skills

• Read and interpret HTML, JavaScript, Perl, Java, PHP and C, and the ability to analyze, write, and execute SQL, Perl, and UNIX shell scripts at an intermediate level
• Working knowledge of communication protocols including HTTP, FTP, RTSP, TCP/IP and UDP
• Set up and manage common network services (Apache, BIND, NIS, Sendmail)
• Solid understanding of a UNIX based operating system, including paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, and filesystem concepts (inode, clustering, logical partitions)

Education/ Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical and/or scientific discipline, or equivalent expertise required
• 3-5 years’ experience with Unix or Linux based systems required
• 3-5 years’ experience supporting Windows desktop and server environments a plus
• Mobile application development experience (iOS, Android, Windows Phone 7) is a plus
